#### Title: From Art & Architectural History to Multidisciplinary Cultural Science and back

In this lecture, I will recapitulate my journey starting with a traditional formation in art research and classical archaeology to a broad spectrum multidisciplinary science of art and culture, which integrates traditional hermeneutic methods with computation and socio-cultural physics. The lecture will focus on shared historical foundations, the multidisciplinary ski area, and relevant phenomena every art and architectural historian should be familiar with. These phenomena include exponential growth, tailed frequencies, dynamics of ranking, emergent complexity, network clustering, network confusion, network multiplicity, a zoology of durations, and what I call the hermeneutic metabolism, in which traditional workflows are but one way to engage with the materials. In essence the lecture slide sequence presents a graphical summary of an upcoming book publication titled Cultural Interaction – Outlining a systematic science of art and culture, which recapitulates the first 15 of the last 20 years of my work.
